If a payment that you enter on an account overpays the account, the overpayment remains on the account, but is not posted to a service line. To clear a credit balance, you post a refund to the account.
Enter the payment on the client's account based on who made the payment: client, insurance or payer.
Post the payment to the appropriate service line(s). The overpayment remains on the account, but is not applied to a service line.
Refund the overpayment to the original payer.
